Los Angeles has a wonderfully exciting history that not many of us are aware of! Los Angeles was founded in 1781 and became part of Mexico in 1821 after Mexico became independent of Spain. At the end of the Mexican American War in 1848 Los Angeles and California both became part of the United States. Interestingly enough, Los Angeles was incorporated as a municipality five months before California became a state. One of the most prominent centers of culture, technology and international trade, Los Angeles is home to many renowned institutions including many professional and cultural fields.

There are many landmarks in Los Angeles, including Walt Disney Concert Hall, Dodger Stadium, Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and Griffith Observatory to name a few. Any one of these landmarks is a must see when you’re touring the Los Angeles Area.

But what about some of the other ‘must see’ destinations in Los Angeles? If you’ve got a couple of hour sand you are interested in the beach scene, head on over to Venice Beach and check out Muscle Beach - for the ladies - to watch all the great looking guys just hanging out waiting to be noticed!

For the museum lovers, LA offers a variety of museum attractions from the Getty Center, a stone and glass design offering peaceful grounds, airy spaces, and a collection that’s breathtaking, or head over to the California Science Center where the most daring person can take a hire wire bicycle ride!

If you’re up for a great nightlife, Los Angeles is one of the most diverse anywhere! Whether you’re into hip-hop, indie hipster clubs, or a bar, you’ll find something you love this city. LA never sleeps and the nightlife takes place under bright lights and offers local bars, beach bars, billard bars, gay bars, comedy clubs, karaoke bars and a host of other options!
